Sara is a 16-year-old high school student from Toronto. In 2018, at just nine years old, she was inspired by a conversation with her mom about the challenges women face when relying on shelters and agencies due to domestic abuse or financial insecurity. Motivated to make a difference, she created Helping Handbags as an initiative to provide handbags filled with essential toiletries to women in need. 

Leading the project has had a profound impact on Sara, teaching her the power of youth-driven change and inspiring her to encourage other teens to take action in their own communities. Helping Handbags continues to grow as a source of support for women in need and as a platform for empowering young change makers.
